JOB OBJECTIVE(S)
Town Planner & Government Liaison Officer is responsible for developing comprehensive plans and proposals for the physical and strategic growth of urban, suburban, and rural areas. To serve as the point of contact between the organization and government bodies, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To develop comprehensive plans and proposals for physical and strategic growth.
- Development monitoring and development control
- Identification of illegal constructions and serving of contravention notices to defaulters.
- Preparation of physical planning technical reports
- Reviewing and processing of building drawings for proposed development
- Monitoring of developments within the residential and industrial estates
- To ensure that land use development aligns with regulations, environmental sustainability, and community needs.
- To balance the demands for housing, commercial, and recreational spaces while maintaining environmental preservation.
- To collaborate with architects, engineers, and public officials to plan and improve infrastructure, utilities, and public spaces.
- To serve as the point of contact between the organization and government bodies, ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- To facilitate the approval processes for planning projects, ensuring that government requirements are met in terms of zoning, permits, and environmental impact.
- To coordinate with government agencies to stay informed of policy changes, regulatory updates, and development opportunities.
- To advocate for the organization’s interests in front of government representatives and stakeholders, building strong relationships to promote collaboration.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- HND/BSC in Town Planning
- MSc in City Planning / Urban and Regional Planning / Urban Design / Spatial Planning and Urban Design
- BSc in Town Planning / Urban Regional Planning
- Minimum Experience: At least 5 to 10 years of proven planning experience in town and urban planning. Extensive experience in the planning process from preparation and submission to consent and appeal. Evidence of previous report writing and making recommendations on major planning applications.
